Barbara and her three daughters moved to St. Thomas when her husband began an academic appointment. After several years they moved away, and were back 11 months later. The simplicity of the lifestyle and the genuineness of those who live here, not to mention the exhilarating beauty of the islands, drew them back -- for good.

Upon her return home, Barbara teamed up with Kerstin McConnell to sell real estate. Then followed one of the softest markets in recent years. Thank goodness for a sense of humor! And perseverance.

Barbara came to real estate after working for years in journalism where she targeted bad guys. She then went on to work with good guys on great projects for worthy causes as an administrator in several non-profit institutions. Barbara still spends several hours a week as a free-lance journalist, delving into the issues and nuances of life in the Virgin Islands.

Barbara has a Master's in Journalism from Columbia University. She's lived all over the United States and in Europe; and has traveled throughout Europe, Africa and Asia.
